3 Loops
A ring-like formation of one or more filaments protruding from the body of a thread. It is classified as a " minor defect " by the Silk Association of America. It may be caused by irregular size of filaments or irregular tension on filaments in cocoon reeling. Many loops can hardly be discerned in the raw. In the reeling it is very difficult to prevent the formation of these tiny loops. They show up greyish after dyeing and finishing, because they do not absorb the dyestuff as thoroughly as the body of the threads. -
